Role Play: A Different Switch

For our class, Academic Writing, for our assignment we had to have role play. And as public relations students we have to act a scene which involves public relations. Therefore my group which consisted of Jared, Jason, Wai Sum, Sneha, Su Ann and me thought of doing a true story which happened in the past.

Marie Antoinette was the daughter of France and she was one of the most beautiful girl among the other daughters. She was so obsess about herself that what is happening to the country does not concern her but what to wear and what matches her nails grabs her attention. She treats her maids and ministers horribly. One day when famine hit the country and the villagers were out of bread and were protesting at the castle’s gate the minister went to Marie Antoinette to tell her about the problem and with a petulant flick of her hair she told the minister to ask them to eat cake. This shocked the minister and angered the villagers. They manage to brake into the castle and capture her. They sentence her to have her head copped off.

Well this would be different if we had a public relations officer who would advise the princess on what is best. A public relations officer will know his audience and what they want. Understand whats best for them and using the best way to overcome the situation. The minister would then advise Marie Antoinette that by making that comment is an insult to the villagers for they do not have bread what more cake. How does she expect them to eat cake when even bread they do not have. Instead she should find out how much they have in the vault and bring out some more to give the villagers so they would have food to eat.

Hehe so that was our role play. Hope our lecturer likes it! Jared was sporting enough to be Marie Antoinette to give our act a little twist! It was hell of fun giving Jared a make up! Thanks for being so sporting yea and we all know you look better as a guy dun worry!!!

A Change of Environment

I finally got out of my lazy ass and actually find and apartment to move in for Ridzuan is just killing us trying to squeeze us of ever penny we had. I finally decided to move to Mentari Court with Charles and Sneha and we are renting our apartment for RM650 only but not furnished. I took the middle room and is only paying RM150 a month so there im saving my parents a lot of money.
It was fun to go wild in Carefour and take everything we need for the house. I love shopping for my room and I fell in love with my cupboard!! It is so big with 3 doors! Then I got myself a table and those three tier cupboards, a mattress, a chair and other stuff. It was hell moving the things to the apartment knowing the amount of things I have back in Ridzuan. I had to make a few trips and gosh moving Chales’s sofa was bad enough. We were lucky to have my dad, Charles, Jared, Izham and Danial (a bit) and definitely not forgetting Leon who helped a lot driving his car to and fro. Thanks dear!! Muaks!!!
Fixing things together was also so fun. Had to build the cupboard and the shelves and seeing Charles being crazy doing his stupid moves. Lol… Now im finally settled in. I actually officially moved in on the 9th of September 2006 when I am suppose to shift in during the 1st already. Gosh I will be missing Ridzuan. Truthfully it is much better there, it is much bigger, it is furnished, and there are more food there which opens till late, a nice pool to hang out around and the place is safe coz its filled with students but in Mentari though I get the freedom and space coz in Ridzuan there are many rules, can’t bring guys in, can’t stay out till 12, no visitors, no cooking, no pork bla bla, and I have to share my room but in Mentari I got my own room and space and privacy but Mentari has yet to be fully occupied and there aren’t much food stalls yet and they close early and mainly Malay food. Plus the place is not that safe coz it is a low cost apartment that’s why we have to practice safety precautions.
Oh well nothing’s perfect can’t get whatever we want plus Mentari is good. The best part about it is that Mentari is just next to my college. If classes are at 8 I can leave my place at 7.55 and still be on time! Hehe so no waking up early for me!! And no more cabs!!! Thank god!!!
Ciao!

Cultural Aficionado

Now this is yet another event coming up to Merdeka. It is actually Nadeem’s final project where they are trying to spread culture awareness and exchange our culture together with the Cambodian culture. This is affiliated with the Visit Malaysia 2007 and this is working together with the Minister of Culture. This event was held on the 25 and 26 of August at Taylors Main Campus at the Multipurpose Hall. Nadeem and his dance group including me and Sneha were going to perform four songs two for 25th and two for 26th.

On the 25th was not the main launch of the event it was on the 26th but it was open to all too and the crowd was not too bad. We performed Asmara Dana the theme song from Puteri Gunung Ledang and Gemini Gemini. I did not really enjoy myself there for I was dead tired because after a whole day of college and having meetings for my event then I had to rush of for this dance.
But it was totally different for the 26th for there were more people and the people were all very supportive! They were yelling and cheering. We performed Nache Balaye and a fushion song which comprises of 6 songs which lasted for 12 minutes plus. It was darn tiring but worth it because the crowd were yelling encore encore!!! I was smiling till my ears and everywhere we went we had people coming up to us saying it was a great dance, good dancer! I was so proud! Besides our dance ( how selfish of me) both nights there were all types of performances, from hip hop break dancers, to singers, to instrumentals, to Malay dancers, to Chinese peacock dancers and little children dancing Indian dance at the age of only 5. They were so adorable. Oh btw something different from the norm is Radlyn’s cabaret group. There were singing and hot girls in short skirts and leggings with long sticks! Really hot! They sang “hey big spender”, and “Tainted Love” . The singers were Radlyn, Dice and Sara and the others were the dancers and I have to give then a big hand for doing something different and doing it so well!! Bravo!!!!
That event ended as a success too though all the stress and fights it was well paid off. As usual we went to Asia Café to eat then went back and hit the sack. What a night!

Fiesta Merdeka

In conjunction with the upcoming Merdeka, the semester 5 of Public Relations students decided to host a small event to collect enough funds for our big event. This is just one of the three events we were planning to have and as for our major event this would be a concert cum buka puasa event at Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre ( place not confirmed) in the month of October and this event is to raise money for Riding for the Disable association. This association helps the disabled in a different way where their method of healing is by letting the disable ride horses. No it is not impossible to let a disabled ride a horse plus this would help them gain confidence, trust, and happiness for they get to interacted with trainers/volunteers plus the horses to trusting them. It is a very good therapeutic way and it is proven that it helps. But this association needs help in funds and also volunteers and that is what we are trying to do, gather funds and create awareness for RDA ( Riding for the Disable).

So our first event is called Fiesta Merdeka in conjunction of our country’s 49th Merdeka. On that day, there were mainly different types of Kuihs sold, kuih lapis, kuih talam, kuih ubi, keropok lekor, to name a few, fried mee hoon, banana cake, sponge cake and drinks such as ribena, orange, and cincau. There were also a face and body painting booth where people can get their body parts painted with the colors of the Malaysian flag with different designs either hibiscus flower, the Malaysian flag or the Word Malaysia. There was also a booth where we sold beaded pins in a form of Malaysian flag. This was a very creative idea from one of our members. And last but not least our Awareness Booth which I was handling. We were there to give out information and help spread the awareness of this association. Our event started out at 8 and ended about 12pm with a success. Everything was sold and the people were happy. All in all, even though small accidents happened but the event was a success and we managed to collect about RM2500 in estimation.

Now to our next small event and till our big final event! Hopefully it will be a success and till then ciao!

Performance @ Plaza Warisan

Well as usual our choreographer Nadeem told us that we had a dance offer at Plaza Warisan ( do not ask me where it is ) in association of Merdeka. We were going to represent the Indian dance ( as usual). Oh and we were offered to be paid RM100 per person. This event was on a Sunday.

So not knowing where the place is or how is it going to be like only knowing that it is a shopping mall we got a little bit excited for it would be a big crowd rite? I mean it is a shopping mall!! We took the KTM there not wanting to trouble anyone and ended up and the place. Lo and Behold we were so shock to find out that the place was pathetic!!! Uh-hmm I’m sorry but it is!! The stage was Horrible!!!! It looks like a stage from a scary kiddy film. So colorful and so small and we were at the edge of it. If I were to suddenly become very excited and hop around and just so happen to hop over this freakin small picket fence I would have jump to my death to the ground floor! Yay!! And do not get me started with the crowd!! It was sooo sad…There were so few people!

Anyhow, we went to our dressing room which btw was an Akido classroom, to change and get our makeup ready and waited. Meals were provided and we got satay, kuihs, nasi minyak ( I think) , pulut, fried popiah, and syrup drink. Can’t complain. So we waited some more till our turn is up. We performed two songs, one a Tamil song Serichi Serichi and the other a Hindi song Nache Balaye. The great thing for the event was that we were the crowd puller. There were other performances too such as Nasyid and some Malay traditional dances which were performed by little kids ( they were so adorable in their outfits) but the crowd ( what’s left of the people there) all came up to see our dance when we started! Hehe so after the dance we packed up and went to McD to chill. The day was sooo hot and sunny a cold drink was sooo tempting!

After that we went to Brandon’s house to chill, eat and play the ps whereas Nadeem started to watch his type of “porn” hehe… Was disgusting!!! Not the porn itself but that particular scene. You would not want me to relate to you coz the thought of it just makes you want to puke! At the end of the day, I was dead tired and decided to hit the sack. Well that’s about all for that day. Ciao!

A Thousand Apologies: Modern Technology Deprived

The reason to my disappearance and the lack of blog entries is no not due to the dryness of my brain cells but due to the fact that I DO NOT HAVE AN INTERNET CONNECTION!!! Yes yes a college student without an internet access! Some might ask, why not use the one at college….Well let me enlighten you why, firstly, ASK THE ICT department! They think blogging is some sort of pornography or some sort of foul language center that’s why the site is block as pornography! Therefore I can’t even visit the sites! Haih…Then finally they had they brain to unblock it so yay! I can finally blog in college…but but dun be too happy, the system is sooooo slow!!!! Loading the site takes like hours what more uploading pictures or the post itself, so I totally gave up trying to blog in college. So this leaves me with cyber café? How many times can I go to the cyber café every time I have an inspiration to write? That will cost me a bomb!

So to my dear readers, I’m so sorry for the lack of blog entries but, ring the gong good news!! I am getting an internet connection at my new place ( I shifted btw to Mentari Court no longer at Ridzuan) therefore I can blog whenever and whatever I want to at whatever time! Yay!

Anyway after this blog entry, the coming few blogs are not based on the stated time but happened a long time back, back when I had no Internet to update you guys about. Anyhow those will be the few events, or happenings in my life. Enjoy or just pass out with boring…It’s your call =P
